Nightmare visions: The Pulse talks to Serena Valentino about the trade paperback of Nightmares & Fairytales, the dark and delightful series by her and Foo Swee Chin:

"From time to time, Nightmares is a stage for my personal demons (however indirect)- a place to play them out, destroy them, see them on a page and move forward. I really strive to make every issue better than the last. Not that I don't do the same with GloomCookie, at least I'd like the think I do... but the comics are very different from each other (as they should be) - GloomCookie is character driven, more layered, and on going. With Nightmares, I get to tell a story - beginning, middle and end in one issue, and it challenges me to get the readers to invest in these characters in the short period of time that's devoted to them in these short stories. I like it."
