Fortune, victory ... whatever: The Kansas City Star (registration required) asked its readers to name their favorite fictional team. The original cast of Homicide: Life On the Street won -- although I'm not sure what the prize was -- and that's just fine by me. But perhaps more interesting are some of the other nomineess, which include the Z fighters from Dragonball Z, the Challengers of the Unknown, and this one, submitted by Gerry Wilson from the wonderfully named Excelsior Springs:

"The Seven Soldiers of Fortune (a comic book)…it was a World War II group and ran for about four years. It was a strange grouping of characters that somehow worked and could have inspired Kevin Smith to revive Green Arrow a few years ago."

They were the Seven Soldiers of Victory, but what an odd, and somewhat esoteric, choice.
