Bright light city gonna set my soul ... I just don't get Comics Continuum. On most days, the site is content to regurgitate press releases and offer up endless photos of the "Mutant X" cast.

Then today, as if shaken from slumber, the site gives us actual news coverage from the Las Vegas Comic Convention.

Yesterday, Newsarama reported that Judd Winick and Dustin Nguyen will follow Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso on "Batman." Today, Comics Continuum tells us that Winick's villain will be Scarecrow. Beyond that, the writer is tight-lipped.

"It's a crime story," Winick said. "At the beginning, middle and end, Batman is about a crime story and you've also brought in this smattering of bizarre super villains. So you'll have that."

In other DC panel news, Azzarello offers this update on his upcoming run on "Superman": "Will (Dennis), who is co-editing the book, said I've mastered the art of writing the script that everybody is going to hate."

Ah, shades of his stint on "Hellblazer."

Jill Thompson confirms she'll release another manga next year for the Deadboy Detectives: "That's what Neil (Gaiman) wants, that's what Neil really likes, so that's what we're doing. It'll be a mystery that takes place in Chicago, because I live there and I can take all the reference that I need."

And "Vimanarama," a three-issue mini-series, will be one of three Vertigo projects from Grant Morrison in 2004.

The rest of the news is only mildly interesting.
