Larsen's sharper Image: At UnderGroundOnline, Daniel Robert Epstein chats with Erik Larsen about his plans for Image Comics:

"What I want to do is get more of a commitment. In times past, there will be guys who come on, they've got grandiose plans of telling this great 25-part story and then they'll do six issues and realize they aren't making the kind of money they wanted and they stop and leave readers hanging. I don't want anymore of that kind of nonsense because that drives me nuts. Just as a fan I want some closure."

He also addresses rumors about the guy who claimed to be the background artist on Savage Dragon:

"I don't know what that is. I know that John Byrne had mentioned that he had met somebody who had done backgrounds on Savage Dragon. As anyone who has ever seen me draw knows I have never used a background guy ever. Having thought about that a little bit I think this guy probably did backgrounds on the Savage Dragon cartoon. Jesus, my backgrounds aren't that good, if I hired a background guy he'd be doing a better job. Look at the work I do, does it look like the backgrounds don't go with the foregrounds? No. Well there is a reason for that, it's all one piece. I don't have people coming by my office in my house to do backgrounds. I don't even have another table for anyone to work at. I don't really know what that was all about. I'm assuming it's a guy who went to a convention, nobody knew who the hell he was so he said he did backgrounds on the Savage Dragon and he got a place to sit down. The cartoon was going at that point."
