Physicist tackles supervillains' superpowers

In USA Today, Symmetry magazine editor David Harris looks at the explanations given in The Science of Supervillains, and provides his own views on the believability of Poison Ivy, Dr. Octopus and Magneto.

Here's Harris on the Master of Magnetism: "I'd like to meet those scientists who think a brain mutation leading to human control of magnetism is possible; I have a bridge to sell them. While the brain does have a magnetic response, that doesn't mean it can control external magnetism."
