Hispanic heroes

The Brownsville (Texas) Herald takes note of a couple of Latino superheroes: Francisco Guerrero's El Gato Negro and Marvel's Araña. Here's Araña: Heart of the Spider writer Fiona Avery, who describes the comic as "a mix of superhero mythos, Japanese manga style, and a Latina beat":

"When I write a comic book I don’t want it to be just a Joe Smith. (I want it to) really depict the way the real world is today."
