Canadian customs seizes 'explicit' manga; man arrested

The Edmonton Sun (scroll down) reports that a local man has been arrested after customs agents in January intercepted what seems to be sexually explicit manga.

According to the newspaper, the Canada Border Service Agency's customs mail center in Vancouver identified a "suspicious package" from Japan en route to Edmonton. Inside were 15 comics "containing what was believed to be child porn."

On Feb. 10, Edmonton police executed a search warrant on the home of the 26-year-old man, and discovered 78 books "containing thousands of pages of animated child pornography -- commonly known as anime."

"This is the largest seizure ever of anime child pornography by the EPS," said Edmonton Police Service spokesman Andy Weiler.

I presume they mean manga, of course.

The man, identified as Gordon Chin, has been charged with importing child pornography and possession of child pornography.
