... Squashes monsters just like flies?

The Syracuse, N.Y., Post-Standard considers Spider-Man: India and DC's CMX line, and remembers back some 25 years, when Marvel licensed its top character to Japan's Toei Co. Ltd. for a live-action TV show:

"Oh, they kept the name, the costume and the powers, but everything else went out the window. This Supaida-Man got his powers (and suit) from a space alien, who also gave our hero (aka Takuya Yamashiro) a snazzy Spidermobile and a transforming giant robot, with which to fight monsters. (Thus paving the way for the later Power Rangers shows.) It was goofy fun. If you can track down a copy, watch it: your life will never be the same again."
